One memorable occasion when I spent time with a kid was during a family gathering at my cousin's house. My cousin's daughter, Trang, who was six years old at the time, caught my attention with her vibrant personality and curiosity about the world.
As a close relative, I had the opportunity to spend lots of quality time with Trang and bond with her as well. So, during our time together, we engaged in various activities that Trang was interested in. One sunny afternoon, we decided to embark on a nature scavenger hunt in a nearby park. After receiving a checklist of items such as leaves, flowers, and rocks, Trang eagerly explored the park, running from one spot to another in search of treasures. You can tell how heartwarming it was to see her excitement whenever she discovered a new item, and I also encouraged her curiosity by explaining the names and characteristics of all the things we found.
Another activity that we enjoyed together was baking cookies. Trang was particularly fascinated by the process of mixing ingredients and shaping the dough, so I guided her through various steps such as measuring flour, cracking eggs, and adding chocolate chips to create delicious cookies. Then, as Trang presented the batch of cookies to her family, I could see her face lit up with pride and joy when everyone savored the fruits of her effort with great enthusiasm.
Looking back, one of the things that made our time together so special was how engaged we were at that moment. We weren’t distracted by phones or other devices, but instead we just focused on enjoying each other’s company and having fun. I really look forward to sharing more joyful moments with Trang in the future.
