Topic: Describe an occasion when you got up extremely early
I’d like to talk about a time when I had to get up extremely early to be well prepared for an important convention at 7:30 am in Ben Tre province. This conference, funded by NGOs and the Vietnamese Government, focused on climate change and biodiversity conservation. We had agreed to meet right outside our company at 4.30 to get ready for the business trip. However, I wasn’t able to finish my presentation until 1:00 am, and could only sleep for about 2.5 hours.
I got up at about 4, quickly got dressed and then rushed to my company. I was so worried that I’d be late for the trip. However, no one was there, except for the company’s driver when I arrived and I was a bit scared that the other people had overslept. I tried to call them but there was no reply and that really freaked me out. Luckily, after about 10 mins, everyone was there and we could begin our trip.
After about 2 hours in the minivan, I got carsick and threw up a lot. I just couldn’t imagine how I’d finish my presentation in that terrible state of health, but my companions encouraged me a lot and that made me feel much more confident. Fortunately, all the 50 attendees at the convention seemed to enjoy my presentation a lot and they gave me a big round of applause when I finished. I was on cloud nine at that moment and also relieved that everything went smoothly.
