IELTS Speaking Sample Part 1 - Kites

Updated: Jan 17

1. Do you enjoy flying a kite?

As a child, I’d say I loved flying kites! It was such a simple activity, yet it brought hours of fun. I remember running with the wind, trying to get the kite airborne , and the feeling of triumph  when it finally caught the breeze  and soared upwards.

2. Do you know how to make a kite?

Well, I've never tried making a kite myself, but I've seen people do it before, and it seems like a fun activity. It's kind of like building a mini-airplane, but with more artistic flair . You get to choose the colors, patterns, and even the tail design.

3. What do you think if someone gives you a kite as a gift?

Hmm, I guess that would take me back to childhood memories  in a heartbeat ! You know, running with the wind, trying to get the perfect launch, chasing it across the park and so on. It would be pure nostalgia  for me.

4. Is flying kites popular in your country?

I think it actually depends on the region. I mean, in some coastal areas, it's a major summer tradition, with beaches buzzing with  families flying kites of all shapes and sizes. However, in the mountainous regions, it's more of a rare sight and mainly enjoyed by kids during specific festivals.
